Mike and I began our land journey in Africa! We agreed to spend just under three months exploring Southern and Eastern Africa before flying to the Caribbean to begin the hunt for our dream boat.
Luckily that process only took a few months and we secured s/v Lazy Bones MM in November 2012.
Our sailing itinerary is:
November: Saint Martin/Sint Maarten and Anguilla
December: St Baths, Antigua, Barbuda, Guadeloupe, Dominica and St Lucia
January: St Vincent and the Grenadines and Grenada
February: Bonaire, Aruba and Colombia
March: San Blas Islands, Panama
April: Panama Canal Crossing and the Galapagos
May: Ocean crossing
June: French Polynesia - Marquesas Islands, Tuamotus Archipelago
July: Society Islands
August: Suwarrow - Cook Islands and Niue
September: Tonga and Fiji
October: Vanuatu and New Caledonia
November: Australia!
This schedule is on mach speed so we may decide to skip some islands and spend longer in others but overall, this is the route we'll follow to get ourselves back to Australia!
